The Fun-Tyme, its crew and charter parties, have been fishing the inshore grounds and offshore canyons since the early 1980's. Included in the catches have been all the Tunas; Bigeye, Yellowfin, Longfin and Bluefin exceeding 800 lbs. We are a conservation minded charter and have released all the White and Blue Marlin save the very first one of each which we mounted many years ago. Our charter parties have returned to port with fillets from all the above species plus Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo and the fall canyons always produce some Swordfish.
Needless to say the inshore fishing has been just as rewarding. The Striped Bass fishery has been second to none and mixing in some Bluefish makes it another rewarding day on the Fun-Tyme. The spring catch starts with Winter Flounder up in the Raritan Bay. What better way to introduce fishing to a youngster and the fillets are the best. The Fluke run off the NJ coast has been very productive where shirt sleeve weather and a day of successful fishing can be fun for the entire family. Fluke tip the scale above 10 lb. on many days.
The Fun-Tyme is a 35' Bertram fully equipped for sportfishing with twin 420hp diesel engines giving a cruising speed of 26 knots. Comfort and safety are built into the legendary Bertram deep-V hull.
The Captain and crew on the Fun-Tyme are mindful of some very basic elements concerning the passengers safety, comfort and the level of fun as the name implies. Aboard are systems to deal with fire prevention and automatic fire suppression. An offshore inflatable raft and 406 EPIRB along with all other USCG requirements are carried aboard. We have (3) VHF radios and a long range SSB radio. To aid in safety and navigation there are (2) GPS with Chartplotter, Loran receiver, 48 mile radar, and autopilot. To help with finding the fish there is a color sonar with a backup and sea water temperature gauge. For the comfort of the passengers the cabin is air conditioned and heated. The boat is equipped with four bunks, head facilities, galley space with microwave oven, AM/FM radio and cassette player, and a TV with DVD player.
During the fishing day we encourage our charter parties to partake in as much of the action as they want. Our only requirement that it be accomplished in a safe manner. Our crew will field any of your questions in a respectful way. We say there are no irrelevant questions. Fishing aboard the Fun-Tyme can be just that, "Fun", for both the beginner and the very experienced.
